During periods when inspiration is lacking, or when I want to try something different without being held back by “blank canvas anxiety” :-), I work on small pieces on paper using free techniques. Collage, painting, or mixed media—these small formats are like candy, little wonders from which I remove any “final objective” for results that are often exhilarating.

Two main series are currently underway. The first is entitled “Cabinets of Curiosities.” It primarily features collages, sometimes enhanced with mixed media. These are small, precious pieces, 15×15 cm on paper, where the colors I love—pale pinks, mauves, khakis, grays, and yellow-greens—play in transparencies or opacities.

The “Pure Abstracts” series, ranging in size from 10×10 to 20×20 cm, is more vigorous and spontaneous, with more vibrant colors and expressive brushstrokes. I work in mixed media, using acrylics, water-soluble wax pastels, and black chalk. I enliven areas of the artwork with asemic writing and sgraffito, which scratch the paint layer and reveal what lies beneath. Unlike the “Cabinets of Curiosities,” which take their time, the “Pure Abstracts” demand speed and expressiveness. The forms and lines escape conscious thought and find their own freedom. The smaller pieces from both series are available in my online shop at very affordable prices.
