This oversized landscape painting was made during a large scale art performance, in June 2016.
I was inspired by the fields though the woods, in the valley near my troglodytic house. I wanted to paint the luminous color of the wheat field in the sun light. The trunks of trees are made with transparent colors, which allows the painting to be very luminous. Main colors are yellow, touches or orange lines, brown, green, green gold, blue, blue lines, transparent shadows, opaque light, transparent textured brownish green for the trunc of the trees…

Regarding the technique: this was the second time I’d used acrylic spray paint on a large format, as well as acrylic markers. I remained loyal to one of my favorite brands: Liquitex. The colors of this very high-end acrylic paint are perfectly lightfast. The advantage of this brand is that the color range is available in different textures: from inks (liquid acrylics) to heavy body, including soft body (more fluid but still pasty acrylics), sprays, and markers. There are some particularly interesting colors like dark yellows and reds, and browns, which prevent mixing, which is very practical when using spray paint. The sprays have different nozzle sizes, which allows for variation in the style. This large-format competition allows you to practice street art with these oversized formats. A real treat for both movement and design!SHIPPING : Due to the size, the painting is sent UNSTRETCHED, rolled in a tube. A professional framer will easily replace the canvas on a frame. PRACTICAL ASPECT : no need to have a large house to make this picture a spectacular piece of your decoration. This work can be hang on a whole wall, like a fresco. It will then simply be glued to the wall, like the large painted canvases of the ancient days. A reversible cellulosic adhesive, as for any wallpaper, will be used to hang it. One can also choose to hang it on a thick wand, like a Japanese Kakemono. Of course, a framer (or you, if you have the necessary tools: tongs, stapler, hammer) will easily be able to tie it up on a frame, at your house or in his workshop (a transport in a small truck will then be predictable). The types of hanging are various and offer more possibilities than we imagine ! 🙂
