Description

“Pompadour tondo”, oil painting on stretched canvas, Ø19,6″ (50 cm diameter).

A rosebush in the garden, a deliciously outdated work which is a nod to Rococo and the Louis XV style, ornate, light, elegant, Dionysian. This style draws its inspiration from nature, through the use of floral patterns, foliage, curves and arabesques. The ornamentation is the only pretension of this work of art flowered with roses on a turquoise green background.
The tondo, here a round canvas on a circular frame, originates from the Renaissance, when portraits were painted or sculpted on a round format support.
This floral work is done in impasto, with a palette knife, in generous touches of oil paint. The impasto brings richness to the pictorial material. The roses and the turquoise background are textured.

This painting will be delivered with an invoice and a signed certificate of authenticity.
The painting will be ready to hang, signed on the front and back.
