Description

“The Red Tree”, oil on canvas, 45,6″X35″ (116X89 cm).

This painting is a larger version of “The Red Mimosas”.

Branches, flowering shrubs are here spontaneously interpreted, in bold choices of colour, a bit in the Fauvist manner, where the flamboyance of colours and forms (turquoise and mauve respond to reds/oranges, on a background of warm or coloured white) draws a Japanese garden. This painting is a tribute to the Nabis, to the Pont Aven School, in a free style where the forms evoke the natural elements of vegetation. The silhouettes of branches, leaves and flowers are always identifiable in this semi-abstract impressionism.

This painting is done with solid oil sticks, which allows writing with colour.

Because of its size, this artwork will be sent rolled in a transport tube. You will have to have it stretched on a frame by a framer. The stretcher bars are not supplied.
