J’ai deux processus créatifs. Dans le premier processus, je crée mon œuvre relativement rapidement, en plusieurs jours consécutifs.
Mais ce paysage quasi abstrait, en technique mixte, est typique de mon deuxième
processus de création où le temps prend son temps … J’ai créé ce collage sur toile il y a quelques temps. J’ai déchiré des bandes de papier de façon irrégulière. J’ai eu l’idée d’un paysage, mais pas d’un paysage particulier. Avec de la colle cellulosique naturelle, j’ai collé mes papiers déchirés (beige, marron, crème, rouge, jaune) en couches qui définissent un paysage inventé. J’ai gardé le blanc de la toile. Le papier rouge était surprenant mais je l’ai bien aimé. C’était peut-être aussi trop fort, trop audacieux, et je ne savais pas comment finir le travail. Tout simplement, le travail ne m’a pas parlé. Je l’ai donc laissé de côté, et carrément oublié.
Puis, longtemps après, en faisant l’inventaire de mes tableaux, je l’ai retrouvé et je l’ai vu avec un oeil nouveau. Je savais que je pouvais en faire quelque chose, même si je ne savais pas encore quoi. L’œuvre m’a enfin parlé. En laissant une grande part de hasard, je l’ai repris à l’huile: les verts foncés et transparents olive, soulignés avec des couches opaques de vert pâle, ajoutant des jaunes francs afin d’accentuer l’idée du paysage et de sa profondeur, sans entrer dans une description naturaliste. Et puis, j’ai vu que cete pièce travail avait finalement sa propre vie …

I have two creative processes. In the first process, I create my artwork relatively quickly, in several consecutive days.
This mixed media artwork, here, is typical of my second creative process where the time takes its time…
I created this Collage on canvas a few times ago.
I tore paper bands irregularly. I had the idea of a landscape,
but not a particular landscape.
With natural cellulose adhesive I stuck my torn papers (beige, brown, cream, red, yellow) in layers which define an invented landscape.
I kept the white of the canvas. Red paper was surprising but I liked it well.
It was perhaps also too extremely, too daring, and I did not know how to finish the work.
Quite simply, the work did not speak to me.
I thus left it side, arranged out of my sight and straightforwardly forgot. A long time.
By making the inventory of my paintings, a few months ago, I found it and I saw it with a new eye.
I knew I could do something of it, even if I did not know what yet. The artwork spoke to me finally.
By leaving a great part randomly initially,
I took it again with oil painting : dark and transparent greens olive,
underlined with opaque layers of pale green, adding frank yellows
in order to accentuate the idea of the landscape and its depth, without entering a naturalist description.
And then, I saw that work had finally its own life…
